According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is currently testing a second-generation iPhone Duo prototype equipped with Face ID technology 1. The facial recognition sensor has been integrated beneath the external display of the foldable device 1.
Apple engineers are working to incorporate the complete Face ID component system into the folding smartphone design 1. Should development progress smoothly, the Face ID feature could debut with the iPhone Duo 2; however, if technical hurdles cause delays, the capability may not arrive until the iPhone Duo 3 1. Apple has demonstrated its ability to miniaturize Face ID components, as evidenced by the infrared camera implementation in the iPhone 18 Pro 1.
