The town of Huntington, home to roughly 500 residents, has been placed under a Level 3 "Go Now" evacuation order, requiring immediate departure.[1] Flames approached to within 250 feet of the nearest residences before firefighters brought the situation under control.[1] The town's fire chief was airlifted for treatment after suffering head and back injuries in a rollover accident over the weekend.[1]
In central Oregon, the Akawa Butte Fire is burning approximately 5 miles from the town of Sisters, with some areas remaining under evacuation notice.[1]
