Julie Masino has stepped down as CEO of the American casual dining chain Cracker Barrel, roughly a year after a brand logo redesign sparked significant customer backlash and hurt sales.[1] Masino, who was hired in July 2023 to drive menu innovation and restaurant renovations to attract new customers, introduced a new logo in August 2024 that triggered substantial opposition from the company's customer base.[1] The backlash was swift enough that Masino reversed the logo change within days, yet the damage persisted as comparable store sales declined 5% that fall and continued to deteriorate, with comparable store sales down 7% for the quarter ending January 30, 2026.[1]
David Deno, the former CEO of Bloomin' Brands who led that company from 2019 to 2024 and previously held positions at Best Buy and Yum Brands, will assume the CEO role on August 10.[1] Despite the ongoing sales challenges, comparable store sales declined 2.6% for the quarter ending May 1, and the company subsequently raised its full-year revenue and profit guidance.[1] The chain operates approximately 660 restaurants across 43 states.[1]
