陸委會副主委梁文傑表示，如原籍大陸人士對此有疑義，可向移民署查詢1。陸委會同時表明尊重當事人提出行政救濟的權益1。
The Hualien County Election Commission revoked the village chief candidacy of Lai Wen-you, son of village chief Deng Wan-hua, after he failed to submit proof of loss of household registration status in mainland China.1
Lai Wen-you contended that he was brought back to Taiwan six months after birth and has maintained continuous household registration in Taiwan for 25 years, never establishing registration on the mainland.1 He stated he has never registered as a permanent resident across the Taiwan Strait, nor has he obtained an identification card or passport from mainland authorities.1
The Mainland Affairs Council indicated that individuals with mainland origins who have questions about their status may inquire with the National Immigration Agency.1 The council expressed respect for the applicant's right to pursue administrative remedies.1
