Geologically triggered disasters accounted for the deadliest category, responsible for 60 percent of all disaster-related fatalities and missing persons.1 Typhoons emerged as the costliest threat, generating half of the total direct economic losses.1 Twenty-six typhoons formed during the first three quarters, with seven making landfall in China.1 These typhoons alone affected 20.314 million people, caused 235 deaths and missing persons, and inflicted 104.22 billion yuan in direct economic damage.1
