Netanyahu and Trump last met in February, when they aligned on military action against Iran.[1] However, Netanyahu was not consulted on a 60-day ceasefire memorandum of understanding that the United States signed with Iran last month.[1] Trump publicly denied the agreement this month, after which conflict resumed temporarily until U.S. Central Command Admiral Brad Cooper recommended halting bombing operations.[1] Additionally, Netanyahu has expressed dissatisfaction with a civilian nuclear program agreement the United States announced last week with Saudi Arabia.[1]
For Zelenskyy's part, he signaled over the weekend via social media that he has instructed Ukraine's intelligence services to share information with the United States about Russian support for Iran.[1] The Ukrainian leader's relationship with Trump has improved markedly; the two held what was described as a friendly meeting at last month's NATO summit, a notable contrast to the hostile confrontation that occurred at the White House a year earlier.[1]
