The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Brain-Computer Interface Industry Innovation Alliance released the "Guangdong Province Brain-Computer Interface Industry Development White Paper (2026 Edition)" on October 21.1 The white paper reveals that Guangdong's brain-computer interface sector has achieved leading status nationwide, with more than 100 key enterprises—the highest number in the country.1 The province has registered 27 clinical research projects, accounting for 20.1% of the national total,1 and filed 360 patent applications in the brain-computer interface field, placing it second nationally.1

The industrial landscape in Guangdong is structured around a dual-core system centered on Guangzhou and Shenzhen, with supporting facilities distributed across the Pearl River Delta region.1 The province has adopted a differentiated development strategy emphasizing non-invasive approaches while tracking invasive technology advancement.1 Twenty-eight medical institutions have established or are planning brain-computer interface clinical research units.1 The alliance, founded in Guangzhou in July 2026 with an initial membership of 124 entities, has outlined a three-phase roadmap encompassing near-term breakthroughs, mid-term expansion, and long-term advancement.1
