He also oversaw development of the Conqueror-110 tactical missile and the Zolfaghar solid-fuel missile1.
Following his appointment, Akhlaghi issued a stark warning to the United States, stating that "if America miscalculates the situation again, the response of the brave Iranian people will surprise it"1. He further cautioned that should the US resort to military action, "you will see how many dead American soldiers' bodies are carried out of the Middle East"1. This appointment comes after the previous defense minister was killed in a US and Israeli strike on February 281.
