The patient is a woman who recently arrived in Nigeria by air from Uganda and is currently receiving isolation treatment in the Federal Capital Territory 1. The patient had traveled to the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on official business and transited through Uganda in early October 1. While Uganda reported 20 confirmed Ebola cases between May and June this year, the World Health Organization declared the country's outbreak ended in August 1. The current outbreak, which began when the Democratic Republic of the Congo declared an Ebola emergency on May 15, is caused by the Bundibugyo ebolavirus, for which no approved vaccine or specific therapy currently exists 1.
