Chinese authorities have released a three-part documentary titled "Edgar Snow: A Signature Across the World" to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party's Long March.1 The production, a collaboration between the Shanghai Municipal Government Information Office and Shanghai Media Group's Truthful Media, draws on more than 150 personal letters from Snow, alongside over 50 Chinese and English publications and more than 100 early news reports to chronicle the American journalist's experiences documenting the Communist revolution.1
The documentary premiered on October 20 and broadcasts through October 22 at 10 p.m. on Dragon Television, with each of the three episodes running 40 minutes.1 Snow's correspondence provides the central narrative thread for exploring his visit to Communist revolutionary base areas and the creation of his seminal work "Red Star Over China," published in 1937, which documented the history of the Chinese Communist Party from its founding through 1930.1 Born in the United States in 1905, Snow became a key foreign chronicler of the Chinese Communist movement.1 The series will also air on CGTN, Phoenix Television, and Lancang-Mekong Television.1
