Reports indicate at least 50 to 53 fighters were killed and over 200 others wounded in the strike.1246 The attack targeted the Al-Alem training camp near Ataq city, where newly recruited security forces and police trainees were undergoing instruction.16 According to local authorities, the Houthis fired three ballistic missiles at the facility.16

The injured, many of them young recruits, were transported to local hospitals for treatment.46 The incident marks one of the deadliest single attacks since Yemen's civil war reignited in September.4 Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council chairman Rashad al-Alimi denounced the strike as a criminal attack and vowed a decisive response, characterizing it as a reflection of the Houthis resorting to terrorism when under pressure.16 The Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed the target was a gathering of Saudi-backed enemy forces.6

The assault occurred amid escalating violence in Yemen. Over the previous seven weeks, Saudi airstrikes in Houthi-controlled areas resulted in at least 141 deaths according to Houthi health authorities.6 The government health ministry reported that Yemen's civil war caused at least 1,282 deaths since August 6.6 In early October, pro-government forces launched a major offensive aimed at recapturing western Yemeni territory controlled by the Houthis.6
