China has spearheaded the creation of a new international standard for brain-computer interface reference architecture, which has been officially published by the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC).1 The standard, titled "Information Technology — Brain-Computer Interface — Reference Architecture," was developed under the leadership of Chinese experts and brings together specialists from more than a dozen countries, including Italy, South Korea, the United Kingdom, India, the United States, Japan, Sweden, Finland, Australia, and Germany.1
The framework establishes a comprehensive technical foundation addressing four fundamental aspects of brain-computer interface technology: what it is, how it can be used, what functions it provides, and how it can be implemented.1 By creating a unified reference architecture encompassing system composition, application scenarios, and implementation methods, the standard is designed to guide product development and serve as a foundation for related technical standards in the brain-computer interface field.1
