Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with Montenegrin Prime Minister Spaic in Podgorica on October 18.1 The two officials discussed a range of bilateral matters, including the commemoration of twenty years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Montenegro.1

Infrastructure cooperation formed a central part of their talks.1 Chinese enterprises have contributed to the completion of Montenegro's north-south highway project, while both nations are currently collaborating on the restoration of the Tara River Bridge.1 Prime Minister Spaic noted that Montenegro received warm hospitality during a June visit to China this year.1 Wang Yi conveyed good wishes from Chinese leadership to Spaic and expressed China's willingness to elevate bilateral relations and serve as a long-term, reliable strategic partner.1

On Montenegro's European integration efforts, Wang Yi stated that China understands Montenegro's efforts to join the European Union, viewing such aspirations as compatible with strengthening ties with China.1 The discussions also encompassed cooperation in tourism and green energy transition.1
