中国制裁台湾友邦政要 民进党斥责北京行径似国际流氓

China's Foreign Ministry issued sanctions on October 12 against two incumbent ministers from Taiwan's allied nations Paraguay and Belize 1. The measures target Paraguay's Minister of Information and Communication Technologies Biad and Belize's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Fonseca 1.

The sanctions include freezing the officials' assets within Chinese territory, including movable and immovable property; prohibiting Chinese organizations and individuals from conducting transactions or cooperation with them; and denying them visa issuance and entry into mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau 1.

The Democratic Progressive Party's China Affairs Department strongly condemned the action, characterizing Beijing's conduct as resembling that of "an international rogue" 1. The party called on China to cease military threats and diplomatic coercion, and to rescind what it termed "unreasonable sanctions" against the allied officials 1. The DPP urged the use of respect rather than intimidation to improve cross-strait relations 1. The party also criticized China's Foreign Sanctions Law as "an evil law that packages political intimidation in legal language" 1.
