The World Health Organization has unveiled the SCORE for Health Data Technical Package, a comprehensive framework designed to help countries establish and strengthen their health information systems.1 The package contains more than 90 standardized tools and resources that bring together all essential elements for optimizing health information system performance within a single coordinated structure.1
The initiative responds to critical data gaps exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, addressing deficiencies in countries' capacity to collect and analyze health information for informed decision-making and emergency response.1 WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus emphasized the importance of measurement, stating that "countries must be able to measure progress to make progress."1
The initial release includes two documents: SCORE Essential Interventions and SCORE Tools and Standards, with plans to release the SCORE Assessment Instrument and global, regional, and national status reports later this year.1 The Bloomberg Philanthropies provided financial support for the development of the technical package.1
