The China Meteorological Administration forecasts that rainfall, temperature drops, and severe convective weather will continue to affect northern China, the northeast, and the Huaihe River region through October 17 and 18.1 Moderate to heavy rain is expected in these areas, with localized torrential or extreme rainfall, accompanied by winds of 4 to 6 levels, gusting to 7 to 9 levels.1 In northwestern regions including northern Xinjiang, western Qinghai, western Gansu, and western Inner Mongolia, temperatures are declining by 6 to 10°C.1 Chief forecaster Fang Fang at the Central Meteorological Administration noted that this cold air event is characterized by its wide rainfall coverage, pronounced wind and temperature effects, and the extreme seasonal nature of precipitation in northern regions.1
