Former Denver Broncos quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick publicly criticized current signal-caller Bo Nix's performance in a Thursday night football matchup, describing his effort as "garbage" and characterizing him as "disinterested" and "checked out."12 Fitzpatrick's remarks also included the assertion that Nix's demeanor was "almost disrespectful to the quarterback position,"12 before the former QB subsequently removed his critical post from social media.1
The scrutiny of Nix extends beyond Fitzpatrick's commentary. Reports indicate that Nix has requested a contract worth $60 million,2 a demand that has drawn skepticism from team observers and media figures. Analyst Shannon Sharpe responded to the contract demand by stating "Ain't Gonna Get it From Us."2 Nix himself acknowledged struggles on the field, saying "I don't know where the disconnect is offensively."2 The situation underscores difficult decisions facing the Denver Broncos organization during what has been characterized as a critical Super Bowl window.2 Meanwhile, a former Broncos player has stepped forward to defend Nix against the mounting criticism he has faced.3
