A 19-year-old New York man has been charged in connection with the death of a Fashion Institute of Technology student who died after being drugged and sexually assaulted in her dormitory at the Manhattan campus.1 The victim died on March 21, 2024, following fentanyl poisoning that occurred on March 18, 2024.1
According to prosecutors, Moises Freyler misrepresented fentanyl as cocaine to two female students, who lost consciousness after ingesting the substance.1 In a written statement, Freyler admitted to engaging in sexual activity with one of the women while she was unconscious.1 Rather than immediately alerting authorities, Freyler photographed the victims and waited approximately 40 minutes before reporting the incident to building security; he never called 911 himself.1
At least two other men have also been charged in connection with the case.1 One of the co-defendants, Harry Rosales Pino, pleaded guilty on September 16, 2024, and is scheduled for sentencing on December 15, 2024.1
