John Anderson, the legendary former head baseball coach at the University of Minnesota, passed away Sunday at age 71 1. Anderson compiled 1,390 career victories during his 43 seasons leading the Gophers program, establishing himself as the winningest coach in Big Ten history and ranking 20th all-time in NCAA Division I 1.
Anderson began his coaching tenure in 1982 and guided the program through 2024, when he retired following the season 1. During his four decades at Minnesota, his teams posted winning records in 38 of 43 seasons and made 19 NCAA tournament appearances, including a Super Regional in 2018 1.
