Several months after becoming stranded during a ride through the Kunlun Mountains in Xinjiang, a group of Shenzhen motorcycle enthusiasts made good on their promise to invite their rescuers to see the sea.1 The herders who came to their aid—Maimaiti Sawuti Yasen and his neighbor Abdureyyim Asan, along with Asan's 14-year-old son Abdulla—arrived at Shenzhen's Bao'an International Airport on the evening of October 15.1 The next day, on October 16, the group experienced the ocean for the first time on a Shenzhen beach, fulfilling a debt of gratitude that bridged over five thousand kilometers.1
The rescue itself had been an act of extraordinary kindness. When the Shenzhen riders found themselves lost in the remote mountain region, the two herders embarked on a nearly five-hour round trip through freezing darkness to deliver fuel.1 Maimaiti Sawuti Yasen, identifying himself as a Communist Party member, assured the stranded travelers: "I am a Communist Party member, please believe in me."1 The herders brought more than the ten liters of fuel initially needed, providing an additional ten liters without accepting any payment.1 This spontaneous gesture of assistance from ordinary people across two provinces demonstrated how acts of kindness can transcend geography and create lasting bonds.1
