Robert Jenrick, a Reform UK MP, has claimed that party leader Nigel Farage has done more to stand against racism than "almost anybody else," defending the party amid revelations of extremist conduct by its officials and candidates.1 Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Jenrick stated that Farage "has probably done more to stand up against racism and the far right than almost any other person."1
These remarks came following a lengthy undercover investigation by ITV Exposure that exposed inflammatory statements from Reform UK members.1 The investigation revealed that Reform UK MP Alan Feeny referred to Asian homeowners as "parasites" and claimed that "no more than 1 percent of the British population can be non-white."1 Additionally, Reform UK official Ed Sumner described mayoral candidate Chris Pery as "obviously a racist," yet Farage protected the candidate from removal.1 When confronted about shielding Pery, Farage responded that it appeared "a bit... a bit unfortunate."1
The party suspended Pery in March 2024 after he made remarks telling a former Foreign Secretary to "go back to the Caribbean" and questioned the loyalty of at least eight minority ethnic politicians.1 In his defense, Jenrick argued that Reform UK maintains "very strong discipline procedures" and contended that all political parties contain "bad apples."1
