Twelve multilateral organizations have unveiled a coordinated action plan aimed at accelerating progress toward health-related sustainable development targets over the next decade 1. The initiative, titled "Stronger Collaboration, Better Health: Global Action Plan for Healthy Lives and Well-being for All," was unveiled at the United Nations General Assembly and represents eighteen months of collaborative development 1.
The participating organizations—Gavi, the Global Financing Facility, the Global Fund, UNAIDS, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, Unitaid, UN Women, the World Bank Group, the World Food Programme, and the World Health Organization—collectively administer nearly one-third of global health development assistance 1. The plan addresses critical gaps in health service provision, particularly given recent data indicating that approximately 5 billion people could lack access to essential health services by 2030 if current trends persist 1.
The action plan identifies seven priority acceleration themes for collaborative frameworks: primary health care, sustainable health financing, community and civil society engagement, health determinants, innovative programming and disease outbreak response in fragile and vulnerable settings, research, development, innovation and access, and data and digital health 1.
