Apple plans to roll out Apple Intelligence in China in December through an iOS 27.3 system update, marking the company's entry into the domestic AI market with support from local tech giants.1 The initial launch will feature foundational AI capabilities that were already released in the United States two years ago, available across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.1
The deployment follows regulatory approval secured through China's internet authorities, with Apple completing the generative AI service filing on July 8 and obtaining launch clearance on September 29.1 To power these features, Apple has established partnerships with two major Chinese companies: Baidu will handle search and Siri-related functionality, while Alibaba will provide AI model capabilities including Tongyi Wanxiang and Qwen models.1 Evidence of this collaboration emerged in iOS 27 Beta 2 firmware, which contained a module called "Baidu Visual Search."1
However, Apple's management remains pessimistic about introducing the new AI-powered Siri assistant to China in the near term, meaning the enhanced Siri experience will not be included in the December rollout.1
