An investigation has been initiated into allegations of inappropriate behaviour against Australian Greens Senator Jordon Steele-John, following formal complaints submitted to party leadership.1 Seven party members, including current and former staff, submitted a letter to newly elected party leader David Shoebridge requesting an inquiry into conduct allegations spanning from 2017 to 2025.1
Steele-John has denied the allegations and taken leave from parliamentary duties.1 He has stated that he was a victim of domestic violence in a previous relationship and has been cooperating with the Western Australian Police regarding the abuse he experienced.1 The Senator has called for an independent investigation process to be conducted.1 Shoebridge indicated he had not previously been informed of these allegations and confirmed that the Western Australian Greens have commissioned an independent process to address the matter.1
