Epic Games has unveiled a preview version of its redesigned Epic Games Launcher, asserting that the new platform delivers significantly improved performance compared to its predecessor.1 The company states the launcher is "much faster and more responsive" than the existing version.1
To achieve these improvements, Epic employed artificial intelligence as a tool to rewrite the codebase from scratch, adopting an entirely different technology stack rather than iterating on the original code.1 According to Martin Keely, general manager and vice president of Epic Games Store, "using AI for programming enabled a small team to rewrite the codebase more quickly and deploy it across platforms."1
The new launcher is currently available for Windows and macOS, with a Linux version planned for future release.1
