NASA is advancing its ambitious plans to return to Venus after decades of absence from the planet. The DAVINCI mission has been accelerated to launch in December 2030, a full year earlier than originally scheduled.1 This spacecraft will deploy a descent probe to capture the first direct images of Venus's surface since 1982.1
Complementing this effort, NASA's VERITAS mission is scheduled to launch in November 2032, equipped with radar instruments to map Venus's surface from orbit.1 These U.S. initiatives are part of a broader international surge of Venus exploration activity. The European Space Agency's Envision orbiter is also planned for launch in 2032,1 while Rocket Lab intends to dispatch a privately-developed probe around 2025 to search for organic signatures in Venus's atmosphere.1
