Prosecutors allege that Kuznetsov detonated at least four explosive devices, each weighing 27 kilograms.1 According to reports, six co-conspirators were involved in the operation, including four deep-sea divers, one explosives expert, and one ship captain.1 The trial is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, with 16 hearing dates planned through December 17, with possible additional proceedings in January and February.1 Hamburg's court rejected requests from Russia and Gazprom to participate as co-plaintiffs in the case.1
Kuznetsov has denied involvement in the sabotage, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has also denied that Ukraine participated in the attack.1 However, German federal prosecutors charged in July 2024 that Ukrainian state authorities ordered the attack.1
