However, U.S. officials informed Ukraine over the weekend that the Trump administration plans to halt intelligence sharing with Kyiv.1 The missile strikes coincided with mounting pressure from the Trump administration, which has demanded Ukraine cease attacks on Russian oil refineries.1 Trump administration officials also warned of plans to suspend European allies' purchases of advanced American systems intended for Kyiv, including critically needed Patriot missiles.1 Trump announced on Friday an agreement with Putin to import Russian diesel fuel and abandon previous U.S. sanctions.1 He subsequently claimed that Moscow and Kyiv had agreed to an "energy ceasefire."1
In response, Zelenskyy indicated Ukraine's willingness to halt attacks on Russian oil and gas facilities, but only if Russia reciprocates by ceasing strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.1 Zelenskyy reported that Ukrainian forces had not attacked Russian refineries or energy facilities in the two days following Trump's announcement on Sunday.1
The Monday strikes also affected the northeastern city of Kharkiv, where bombardment destroyed a residential building, killing four people with 41 others wounded.1
