Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Destin, Florida on Friday evening as a Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 105 miles per hour, before weakening to a post-tropical cyclone the following day.1 The storm claimed two lives, both resulting from trees falling on homes.1 More than 868,000 customers across Florida, Alabama, and Georgia lost power in the aftermath.1
Despite its transition to post-tropical status, Isaias continued to pose significant inland hazards across the Southeast. The National Hurricane Center warned of ongoing threats including flash flooding, strong winds, and tornadoes in the affected region.12 Southern Alabama and southwestern Florida were expected to receive 4 to 8 inches of rainfall, with localized areas potentially receiving up to 15 inches.1 The system was forecast to dissipate by Sunday.1
