Sincere Regards to APEC 2026 from SFLS"1。
Faculty and students from Shenzhen Foreign Language School's Longhua High School Campus have completed a large-scale patchwork artwork titled "Brocade City·Connecting the World" as a tribute to APEC 2026.12 Created over nearly half a year, the work measures 120 centimeters by 160 centimeters and combines artificial intelligence design with traditional textile craftsmanship.12
The design incorporates multiple symbolic elements that represent Shenzhen's character and international outlook. Twenty-one bougainvillea flowers embroidered into the composition represent the twenty-one APEC member economies, with two flowers crafted using traditional Chinese thread-wrapping techniques to specifically represent Hong Kong and Taiwan.1 Circuit board textures are woven throughout to honor the city's innovation heritage, while three-dimensional elevated highway imagery symbolizes connectivity and mutual development.1 The textile bears an English inscription reading "Sincere Regards to APEC 2026 from SFLS."1
The creative process combined modern and traditional techniques. Students initially provided conceptual inspiration, which was then developed into visual sketches using artificial intelligence tools.1 Faculty and students subsequently reviewed and refined these drafts through iterative comparison and selection before executing the final work using traditional patchwork methods.1 Beyond the main artwork, the project expanded into a series of cultural products including fragrant cloud silk night lights and black-faced spoonbill figurines.1
