A significant cold air mass will sweep across northern China from October 11 to 13, bringing widespread temperature declines and precipitation to the region.12 Northern areas will experience temperature drops ranging from 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, with certain localities seeing declines of 8 to 12 degrees Celsius, accompanied by winds of 4 to 5 levels and gusts reaching 6 to 8 levels.12
Before the cold air arrives, parts of Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces will face heavy to torrential rainfall.1 Specifically, central and southern Shaanxi, southwestern Shanxi, northeastern Sichuan, and southern Gansu are forecast to receive 50 to 60 millimeters of precipitation.1 The eastern part of the country is expected to remain mostly cloudy or clear over the next three days.1 Rainfall is also anticipated across the eastern regions of northwestern China, North China, Northeast China, eastern Inner Mongolia, and southwestern China from October 11 to 13.2
In contrast to the north, southern regions will experience continued warming trends.2 Jiangnan and South China areas will see maximum temperatures reaching 30 to 33 degrees Celsius, with Guangzhou expected to maintain highs around 33 degrees Celsius over the coming five days.2 Meteorological authorities are advising attention to the potential impacts of these weather changes on tourism, transportation, agricultural production, and public health.1
