Since the scheme's launch, authorities reported receiving over 13,000 applications for entry into Hong Kong's urban areas by mid-July, with more than 11,000 already approved.1 The cumulative number of reserved vehicle trips exceeded 9,000.1 Visitors remain permitted to stay in Hong Kong for a maximum of three days under the scheme.1 On the same day as the coverage expansion, the Hong Kong Airport Authority launched an "Easy Parking" service to provide mainland and Macau self-drive travelers with convenient parking facilities at land ports.1
The scheme's rollout occurred in two phases, with the first phase implemented on November 15, 2025, followed by the second phase on December 23, 2025.1 Officials indicated plans to further extend the measures to all 21 cities in Guangdong Province by the first quarter of 2027.1
