Seven Chinese government departments have jointly issued the Third Phase National Sign Language and Braille Standardization Action Plan for 2026-2030, establishing comprehensive goals for sign language and braille work during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.1 The coordinating departments include the China Disabled Persons' Federation, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Education, the National Language Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the National Radio and Television Administration.1
The new action plan prioritizes six key areas of focus: promoting the national unified sign language and braille, improving the standardization system, driving information technology innovation, enhancing resource supply, cultivating professional talent, and strengthening international cooperation and exchange.1 This marks the third consecutive phase of such coordinated national efforts, building on standardization initiatives that have been implemented since 2015.1
