China's state broadcaster released a documentary series that revealed how criminal networks operating in Myanmar's northern border region exploit fraud victims through debt bondage and organ harvesting. The three-part series, titled "The Complete Record of the Destruction of Myanmar Fraud Operations," aired on China Central Television's main channel from October 5 to 7 1.
The documentary features testimony from a fraud perpetrator surnamed Tang who was smuggled into northern Myanmar in 2021 and subsequently controlled by criminal gangs 1. After being forced to sign debt papers totaling 70,000 yuan (equivalent to approximately 330,000 New Taiwan dollars), Tang was beaten and transferred between multiple fraud operations for failing to meet performance targets 1. Once his injuries became so severe that he could no longer walk, the criminal organization demanded he sell a kidney to settle his debts as a condition for release 1. Tang stated, "At that time I was willing to sacrifice not just one organ—I would have had my legs and hands sawed off, as long as I could leave" 1.
The documentary also documented the conviction of multiple core members of the Ming and Bai family criminal organizations, several of whom received death sentences 1.
