The October 7 Hamas attack claimed approximately 1,200 Israeli lives and resulted in 251 people being taken hostage into Gaza.1 This represents the deadliest single day for Jewish people since the Holocaust.1 The ensuing Israeli military campaign in Gaza has resulted in over 73,650 Palestinian deaths according to Gaza's health ministry, with the majority being civilians.1 Hamas has controlled Gaza since 2006.1
