The defense took place on November 2, 2014 1. Yang Zhilin presented his academic achievements in data mining and cancer prediction, reporting that over 90% of his major courses scored 95 or above, all his programming design courses received perfect marks, and he ranked first in his grade 1. His research papers were published at top-tier conferences including KDD 2013, WSDM 2014, and CIKM 2014 1, and he won first place in the DREAM9 Global Cancer Prediction Competition 1.
