Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate responded to the recurring problem by proposing on Wednesday that a new time zone boundary be established north of Noosa 1.

Queensland's resistance to daylight saving reflects a long-standing position. The state trialed the system between 1989 and 1992 before voters rejected it in a public referendum 1.
