Acemate, an artificial intelligence tennis robot developed by Wobot Intelligence, will make its debut at the 2026 China Open as the first robotic athlete to enter the event and the tournament's sole designated tennis training robot supplier.1 The robot represents a significant advancement in embodied intelligence technology, leveraging proprietary dual-camera vision perception without requiring external motion capture systems to complete dynamic rallies on actual courts.1
The achievement underscores Shenzhen's growing prominence in embodied AI development. Wobot Intelligence has ranked first globally in AI embodied home robot sales for two consecutive years in 2024 and 2025, according to Frost & Sullivan reports.1 Acemate has already expanded into more than 60 countries and regions worldwide with a global user base exceeding 20,000, and became the first tennis robot to participate in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.1
The Baoan District government has intensified support for this emerging sector through targeted policies and infrastructure investment. In November 2025, Baoan introduced the nation's first dedicated subsidy program for embodied intelligence robot grippers.1 Additionally, the district officially launched the "Embodied Intelligence Port" in May 2026, anchored by the Binhai, Bihai, and Dachadao Bay areas.1 By 2026, Baoan aims to cultivate three to five industry-leading enterprises, nurture over 600 AI companies, and achieve an industrial output value exceeding 55 billion yuan.1 These initiatives follow a broader surge in Shenzhen's robotics sector, which generated a total output value of 242.6 billion yuan in 2025, representing a year-on-year growth of 20.56%.1
