Li Suzhao, the 36-year-old son of former Inner Mongolia official Li Jianping, has allegedly adopted a new identity and relocated to Europe with his wife to evade scrutiny, according to reports.1 His father, who served as Party Secretary of Hohhot Economic and Technological Development Zone, was executed two years ago after being convicted of embezzling 3.1 billion yuan in public funds.1
Li Suzhao reportedly assisted his father in transferring illicit proceeds overseas and obtained Cypriot citizenship through an investment-based naturalization scheme in 2016.1 He has since changed his name to Leonidas Loucas, while his wife, formerly known as Gao Ran, now goes by Rhea Loucas and is reported to be residing in Switzerland.1 Prior to relocating, Li Suzhao worked at Deloitte's Beijing office and China Investment Securities in Hong Kong before establishing a technology company in Europe.1
In September, Cypriot authorities froze Li Suzhao's real estate holdings in the country, valued at over 100 million yuan.1 His current whereabouts remain unknown.1
