The modernization initiative reflects the scale and urgency of the challenge ahead. China's urban underground pipeline system spans approximately 3.9 million kilometers, the world's largest, yet faces persistent issues including aging infrastructure and leakage losses.1 During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the country will invest roughly 5 trillion yuan to upgrade and construct 770,000 kilometers of underground pipelines in coordination with other infrastructure projects.1 Industry analysts estimate this investment could generate between 7.5 trillion and 10 trillion yuan in additional GDP growth.1
