A homelab enthusiast has documented a comprehensive overhaul of their home infrastructure, upgrading from a Zimaboard running NixOS to an HPE DL380 Gen10 server running Debian 1. The new server is equipped with two Intel Xeon Bronze 3204 CPUs, 288 GB of RAM, and sixteen 600GB enterprise-grade 10k RPM hard drives configured in RAID6 1.

The infrastructure refresh extended beyond compute hardware to encompass the entire network. The author deployed Ubiquiti UniFi equipment, including a UCG Ultra gateway and three U7 Lite access points, and ran Ethernet cabling throughout the house from the attic to the living room, downstairs areas, and garage 1. The upgraded network now delivers WiFi coverage exceeding 700 Mbps, a substantial improvement over the previous setup, supported by a 750/750 Mbps fiber connection from Bergen Fiber/Altibox 1.
