Oracle has sent a force majeure notice to the developers of its Project Jupiter data center in New Mexico, citing obstacles that may prevent the facility from meeting its 2028 target launch date.89 The company, which has committed to the facility with developer Blue Owl Capital, issued the notice to allow for delayed payment obligations should construction delays occur.9

The project, designed with a capacity of 2.45 gigawatts, faces multiple challenges including energy infrastructure delays.9 An Energy Transfer natural gas pipeline critical to the facility's operations has been postponed to February 1, 2027, pushing back the energy supply timeline.9 Additionally, the New Mexico Environment Department faces a November 23 deadline to make a decision on air quality permitting for the campus.9

Despite the force majeure notice, Oracle stated that "Project Jupiter remains on our planned schedule,"9 and Blue Owl Capital emphasized that the notice "does not change the financial commitments to this multi-year project."9 The data center project involves approximately $180 billion in debt, with related project loans trading at 90 cents on the secondary market.345 Oracle's stock declined between 4 percent and 7 percent following the announcement.348
