An 11-year-old boy died Thursday evening after being shot in the face and neck during an incident at a residence in Norwest, a northwestern suburb of Sydney, on Monday afternoon 1. The child was rushed to hospital following the shooting on Fairway Drive but succumbed to his injuries around 8 p.m. 1.
New South Wales Police arrested three 18-year-old men in connection with the incident 1. One of the suspects, Isaac Bechara, has been charged with concealing a serious crime 1. According to Detective Superintendent Naomi Moore, "This shooting at this stage does not appear to be linked directly to current conflicts however a number of individuals who were inside the unit at the time are well known to NSW police" 1. Police have indicated that the shooter has associations with organized crime 1. Five other people were inside the residence at the time but were not injured 1. The investigation remains ongoing 1.
