China's Taiwan Affairs Office Director Song Tao emphasized the need to advance peaceful development of cross-strait relations during a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration held in Beijing. 1 At the event, Song Tao stressed adherence to the "one China principle" and the "1992 Consensus," calling for deepened cross-strait exchange and cooperation, integrated development, and opposition to Taiwan independence and foreign interference. 1
The gathering, titled "Full Moon in the Capital, Hearts Connected Across the Strait—2026 Cross-Strait Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration," drew over 400 participants from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, including more than 300 representatives from Taiwan's business, cultural, and civic sectors, as well as Taiwan residents based in Beijing. 1 Among the attendees was Kuomintang Vice Chairman Li Qianlong, who reaffirmed support for the 1992 Consensus and opposition to Taiwan independence, expressing hopes to restore cross-strait mutual trust and expand dialogue. 1 The event also included participation from Taiwanese cultural figures such as actress Yi Nengjing and screenwriter Gao Xiaoxian. 1
