One of Hou's major contributions involves developing precision drilling technology for aircraft components that required processing hundreds of thousands of holes with a diameter of just 1.2 millimeters, with spacing that demands absolute precision 1. This advanced technique compressed the manufacturing cycle from over 100 days to just ten-plus days 1. Additionally, Hou participated in establishing China's first "lights-out factory" production line for large-scale aircraft structural components, enabling 24-hour unmanned autonomous production 1. The technological improvements extended to machine calibration, where the origin correction process was reduced from over 20 minutes to just 6 seconds 1.
These achievements have earned recognition at the national level. The Chengdu Aircraft Advanced Aviation Equipment Flexible and Agile Intelligent Factory, to which Hou contributed, was selected for inclusion in China's highest-tier Leading-Class Intelligent Factory Cultivation List 1.
