British data centre startup Nscale has submitted an application to list on Nasdaq, with former UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg set to benefit significantly from the flotation.1 Clegg, who serves as a board member, holds 917,000 shares representing 0.12% of the company; at an estimated valuation of $35 billion, these shares could be worth approximately $42 million (£30 million).12 The IPO filing was submitted on September 18, 2024, paving the way for a year-end listing.1

Nscale operates five data centres across Europe with a further twelve under construction at various stages of development.1 The company has generated $140.6 million in revenue over the past six months, though it reported a net loss of $1.02 billion during the same period.2 The startup holds contracts exceeding $103 billion, but faces significant concentration risk: approximately 85% of these contracts are derived from just two customers—Microsoft ($43.8 billion through 2033) and Anthropic ($44.6 billion, subject to milestone conditions and termination rights).2 Nvidia has committed $1 billion in convertible debt to support the company's expansion.2
