目前，全国技能劳动者超过2.2亿人，高技能人才达7200万1。

The WorldSkills Competition traces its origins to 1950, when Spain and Portugal jointly hosted the inaugural event in Madrid 1. China officially joined the World Skills Organization as its 53rd member on October 7, 2010, and made its competition debut at the 2011 London Games, where competitor Pei Xianfeng won a silver medal in welding 1. The nation's breakthrough came in 2015 in São Paulo, when Nie Feng captured gold in hairdressing, becoming the first Asian competitor to top the podium in 68 years 1.
China's rise in the global skills arena has been rapid. In 2017 in Abu Dhabi, the Chinese delegation achieved a historic sweep, securing first place in both the medal count and overall team standings 1. Most recently, at the 2024 Lyon competition, China competed in all 59 events and earned 36 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals 1. Over the past 16 years since first competing internationally, China has accumulated a total of 93 gold medals, 41 silver medals, and 28 bronze medals 1. Domestically, China has developed a vast pool of skilled workers, with more than 2.2 billion skilled laborers and 7.2 million highly skilled workers 1.
