Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ron Wyden have sent a letter to Social Security Administration Commissioner Frank Boccardi, alleging he misused official resources to promote misleading claims about the benefits of a Trump-backed tax law to Social Security recipients. 1
Boccardi stated that approximately 35 million older adults would receive an average tax cut of $7,500 under the legislation. 1 The law provides a temporary income tax deduction for those 65 and older, with single filers eligible for up to $6,000 and married couples for $12,000. 1 However, this deduction is set to expire in 2028. 1
