Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has dismissed concerns about artificial intelligence leading to human extinction as "doomsday narratives," stating there is a "0% chance" the world will end by 2030.12 Huang has argued that AI should develop as rapidly as possible and characterized extinction warnings as "irresponsible" and "unnecessary panic."2 He has also suggested that other AI executives who promote apocalyptic scenarios may have ulterior motives for doing so.1
Huang's comments directly challenge warnings from some figures in the AI industry. Former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon has claimed that artificial intelligence could become "superhuman" within a decade and potentially eliminate humanity.2 Meanwhile, Anthropic has published a threat intelligence report revealing that criminals, state-sponsored organizations, spyware vendors, scientists, and propagandists are attempting to misuse the AI system Claude to design missiles, bombs, and deadly pathogens, as well as to monitor dissidents.2
