Volvo's S90 sedan is experiencing dramatic discounts in China's dealership network, with prices plummeting nearly 50% below the official listing.1 The vehicle carries an official online price of 406,900 yuan, yet offline dealerships are quoting bottom prices below 229,900 yuan, with select stores able to bring fully-paid deals to under 220,000 yuan.1
The aggressive pricing reflects broader market pressures facing the Swedish automaker. Volvo's global sales declined 7.4% year-over-year during the June to August 2026 period, with 148,239 units sold, a downturn largely attributed to persistent weakness in the Chinese market.1 In response to these challenges, the company plans to introduce 13 new models by the end of 2030, allocating seven for Western markets and six specifically for China.1
The sales leadership has also undergone changes, with He Kuo assuming the role of head of Volvo's Greater China Sales Company, replacing former president Yu Kexin who departed the position.1
